Book Week

Hi bloggers. Two weeks ago was book week and I think it was the most exciting week because at Monday to Friday was the book fair where you can buy books. On Wednesday the seniors did the poetry competition when you have to come up with a poem that you present to your classroom. On Thursday was the poetry competition finals and that is when the best poets from your classroom have to present their same poem to three classrooms. Then top four poets have to present their poem to the whole school. On Wednesday a poet visited our school and on Friday we had the favourite character parade where you have to dress up as your favourite character from a book. I think it was the best week so far this term and I really liked it. Here are some photos

Commenting Sentence Starters

Hello there bloggers. At Thursday the 10th of August I did a cybersmart lesson with Gerhard and the lesson is about commenting on other peoples blogs properly. First we were asked to do a padlet about how to start your comments under positive, thoughtful and helpful. Then we had to go to a google drawing and you had to screenshot a post from a blog and put it in a box and you link it to the blog you got the screenshot from. Then you had to write a positive, thoughtful and a helpful comment and a question. Then there is a box to combine all the short comments and questions.

Maths Tent Model

Hello Bloggers. On Thursday the 3rd of August Te Waka Ako [my classroom] had to make our own small tents using toothpicks and coloured modelling clay. You use the toothpicks to make shapes and you use the modelling clay to stick the toothpicks together. I found it a bit frustrating because I made lots of tent designs but most of them broke, so when I did my last tent design I did it quite simple because I didn't want my design to break. What was good is that my last design didn't break. The shapes I used were triangles and I used a square as the base. I have learnt that the smaller the design the longer your design will stand. I think it was fun and I would like to do it again.
