Wheels Day

Hello blogging world. This Monday my school had a final wheels day for the year and you had to wear mufti. Wheels day is about when you have to bring something with wheels like scooters, bikes, skateboards, remote control cars, roller skates and more. There were three rotations water slide and the swimming pool, games like team tactics and tea ball and you got to go on your wheels. We had to set up our groups in the morning and each group had one teacher. If you didn't bring any togs for the water slide and the pool you had to watch the other students swim. What I liked about the day which is that I got a lot of exercise in the games.

Celebration day

Hi bloggers. Last week at Saturday the school that I am in [Waikowhai Primary School] had a celebration day and it was a success. Two days after the celebration day our teachers gave us a task of a celebration day thinking hats. The hats are white hat, yellow hat, red hat, black hat, green hat and blue hat. Also we had to go to the senior syndicate gallery and we had to find photos of the celebration day. Also we could change the background and we could change the font.

Marine Metered Squared Beach clean up

Hi bloggers. Last week me and my class went on a beach clean up at Waikowhai bay/Faulkner bay and we met up with a marine metered squared scientist there to check how we were doing. We each had to go to a rock pool and we had a list of animals in the beach and we had to find those animals in the rock pool. We each got in a group of 5 or 6. My group found a lot of small crabs, seaweed, enemies and a lot of other stuff. Once we walked back to school we had lunch and estimated how much rubbish was found and we did a survey. I liked how we got to walk back because we got lots of exercise.

                                                                 Here are some photos

Recycled Paper

Hello bloggers. 2 or 1 terms ago my school decided to have a gala day which is in the 25th of November. The class I am in is Manukau making Recycled Paper, Waitemata is making Soap and Hauraki are making Tote Bags. Also the other classes are making stuff that I don't know, there will be food, stalls, games and more. There will also be a Tongan, Samoan, Kapahaka, Bollywood, Chinese and European cultural performances. Now I am going to show you how to make recycled paper, first you have to rip normal paper into small pieces and put it into a bucket. Then you have to fill the bucket with hot water and pour it into a large container and mash all the bits of paper using a egg beater. After that you get a paper cloth and get all the mashed paper using the paper cloth and you dry the paper. When the paper is dry enough you can peel the paper out of the cloth and when you make lots of recycled paper you can use them to make Christmas cards, birthday cards and many other cards. If you want to make a card you have to cut the recycled paper using scissors and you have to cut them to the picture you want them to look like. For example a Christmas tree and you cut a normal piece of paper to a rectangular shape and glue them in the card so you can write in it.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        W
hat was good was that I got to make paper because it was really fun                    What was bad was that we were running out of recycled paper so couldn't              make the cards

NZ Journey

Hello bloggers. 2 weeks ago my teacher gave me and my classroom a task called the NZ Journey. At the start I didn't know what it was about but when I figured it out it was about a fake trip around NZ using google slides. First you got to estimate how you think your trip would cost and I estimated 5 million dollars because I think it would be expensive. I finished the work 2 or 1 weeks after I was given the task, so we had to go down to Dunedin and go all the way to Cape Reinga. The hardest part was looking at the bookings of the flight. The easiest part was adding the total travelling cost because I used the calculator.

Book review

Hello bloggers. In the first week in term 4 my teacher gave me a novel to read and all the other students got one. We had to go to the link in our Chromebook. It was the novel study and once we read the book we had to go to the novel study and work on the activities there. There's activities like: What's your favourite part of the book? What was the book about? What hard words did you not understand? We had to go to the online dictionary and look for the meanings of the words.

My book was called Jonty and Choc. It was about two best friends from primary school who are moving to intermediate. Jonty found a lump of ambergris in the beach and gave it to Choc, but Choc won't return the lump and they stopped being friends. In the end they became best friends again when they shared the lump.

Skiing google slides animation

Hi bloggers. This week everyone in Te Waka Ako has to make one way to present their answers to their mountain inquiry topic, but in my class we didn't have time to present so we are presenting next week. The ways are to do a poster, slides and a animation, I did a animation and my topic is skiing. A google animation is something that you have to make a google slides and you add a character and you duplicate the slide and on the duplicated slide you have to move the character and you do that in every slide.
                                                          Here is my animation

I found making the slides hard because at the start I didn't know how to rotate the character but now I know how to rotate my character.

Hi bloggers. On September 12th was the school [Waikowhai Primary School] Cross Country. So there were groups like year 0/1 boys, year 0/1 girls, year 2 boys, year 2 girls, year 3 boys, year 3 girls, year 4 boys, year 4 girls, year 5 boys and year 5 girls and I was in the year 5 boys. There was 6 activity's for the groups large board games, racau sticks, blind fold game, ball games, watching people run and a long run. When it was the year 5 boys turn to run we got warmed up and started running, the year 5 boy who came first was a boy named Qais, I didn't know what place I came but I think I did good. When the year 5's are finished running it was the year 6's turn to run. When Cross Country was finished we had the bake sale in the old room 7 and most of the baking was 50 cents and I had 2 dollars.

Magical World of Crazy Science

Hi bloggers. On September 11th was the Crazy Science Show in the school I go to [Waikowhai Primary School]. So there was two people called Richard and Robyn, Richard was the one who did all the science and magic while Robyn was on the computer playing the music in the computer when ever Richard tells her to. The show was taking part at the school hall and Richard taught the whole school about chemicals. Richard taught us a lot about science, water, oxygen and more about science and I was impressed of his magic tricks and now I know a lot about science.

The most amazing thing I saw was that Richard made a big gigantic bubble and he made his own fireworks with a lighter.

I learnt that paper lifts when air blows across the curve of air pressure and I learnt the word polymer which means to turn liquid into solid.

I wonder how does Richard do the magic tricks and how did he know all about science.

What I could do is at home is that I could try the science that is easy and try to hover a ping pong ball by turning on the hairdryer vertically.

Mt Ruapehu Senior School Camp

Hi bloggers. On week 5 term 3 it was the senior school camp on Waikowhai Primary School!. The camp was taking place on Mt Ruapehu and we have to split in 8 colour groups Red, Blue, Yellow, Orange, Pink, Purple, Green and Turquoise and I was in the pink group. So in the bus trip we stopped at Hamilton Gardens for morning tea and we had to do a activity where Ms Sands gives each group a piece of paper and on the paper are pictures from the gardens and each colour group has to walk around the garden and find the same picture from the piece of paper and you have to write the garden that it is in. The winner of the activity was the pink group which was the group that I was in and for the prizes we got chocolate, who came second place was the purple group. The next stop was Otorohanga we had lunch there and explored the Ed Hillary walkway. The final stop was Taumarunui primary and we played at the playground and had afternoon tea. Finally we were going to the hotel called The Park, when we arrived there we took all our luggage and got the keys to our rooms. If you want to see more about the camp there is a camp booklet slideshow for you to see.
                                                        Here is my slideshow

What I found challenging was when I was up the mountain skiing.
My success was when I learnt how to stop.

Book Week

Hi bloggers. Two weeks ago was book week and I think it was the most exciting week because at Monday to Friday was the book fair where you can buy books. On Wednesday the seniors did the poetry competition when you have to come up with a poem that you present to your classroom. On Thursday was the poetry competition finals and that is when the best poets from your classroom have to present their same poem to three classrooms. Then top four poets have to present their poem to the whole school. On Wednesday a poet visited our school and on Friday we had the favourite character parade where you have to dress up as your favourite character from a book. I think it was the best week so far this term and I really liked it. Here are some photos

Commenting Sentence Starters

Hello there bloggers. At Thursday the 10th of August I did a cybersmart lesson with Gerhard and the lesson is about commenting on other peoples blogs properly. First we were asked to do a padlet about how to start your comments under positive, thoughtful and helpful. Then we had to go to a google drawing and you had to screenshot a post from a blog and put it in a box and you link it to the blog you got the screenshot from. Then you had to write a positive, thoughtful and a helpful comment and a question. Then there is a box to combine all the short comments and questions.

Maths Tent Model

Hello Bloggers. On Thursday the 3rd of August Te Waka Ako [my classroom] had to make our own small tents using toothpicks and coloured modelling clay. You use the toothpicks to make shapes and you use the modelling clay to stick the toothpicks together. I found it a bit frustrating because I made lots of tent designs but most of them broke, so when I did my last tent design I did it quite simple because I didn't want my design to break. What was good is that my last design didn't break. The shapes I used were triangles and I used a square as the base. I have learnt that the smaller the design the longer your design will stand. I think it was fun and I would like to do it again.

Here is a photo of my design

Blog post traffic light

Hi there bloggers. On Thursday the 27th of July Te Waka Ako [my classroom] did a cybersmart lesson with Gerhard. In this cybersmart lesson we watched a video of a student at Hay Park school making a blog post. Then we were told to go to the cybersmart page in the syndicate site and choose between three blogs from other schools and we had to go to a google docs. You have to choose what box to highlight of the quality of the blog post between beginner, getting going and smart learner.

                                                                              Here is my blog post

What I found hard is what box to highlight

My smart choices comic strip

Hello bloggers. 2 weeks ago me, my brother and my friend did a comic strip about making smart choices. So we took snapshots of us and put speech bubbles next to the snapshots and wrote on the speech bubbles. We learnt that we don't tell a stranger our Chromebook password or give out personal details like where you live. I really enjoyed it.

                                                                 Here is my comic strip

My thinglink about me

Hello bloggers. At Thursday 15th June at my school in cybersmart we are asked to do a thinglink using a photo of me in a site called befunky. We had to do a thinglink about me, my family, what are my goals for this year and my hobbies. Here are some things about me.

                                                         ENJOY READING MY THINGLINK.

What I noticed is it was hard to do the thinglink because I have to choose what to write.

I would like good feedback about my work.

My te waka ako six thinking hats comprehension

Kia ora fellow bloggers. This week the senior class rooms in my school (waikowhai primary school) moved to Te waka ako (the new building) and we did a opening ceremony on Monday morning. So the senior teachers decided to do a six thinking hats comprehension for the syndicate and we used de bono thinking hats.                                                                                             Enjoy reading                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Hey guys how are you please leave some positive feedback down below

Fadlan's character description

Hi fellow bloggers. Last week we had to do a character description and we had to make our own character, so how we did it is to go on a website called build your wild self some people did half human half animal and some people did all human but i did half human half animal. Then we had to do a Y chart and wrote about what is our characters actions, what our character looks like and what is our characters personality traits. After that we had to do three paragraphs using our ideas in the Y chart and make sentences using the ideas. I have included this below to look at.                                     Here is my plan.                             Screenshot 2017-05-08 at 12.15.57.png

Jack has 8 octopus tentacles to help him climb walls and it also makes him bullet proof.
He has wings to help him fly to catch fish and Jack can breathe under water.
He has crab arms to help him pinch criminals.
Jack has horns to bash through walls.

When jack sees a burger he immediately runs to it and eats it.
Jack lives in a cave and he works for the police and that’s why he catches criminals. If he gets bored in the cave he flies to the city and eats donuts.

Jack is honest to everyone and jack is angry when the criminals runaway. Jack is kind to people and people are kind to him because when criminals steal from people Jack puts the criminals in jail and Jack gives the stolen stuff back to the owner, the owner of the stuff says thank you to Jack.
Jack is sad when a criminal captures someone.

I would like some good feedback about my work.
